Blast Furnace Charging Control and OptimizationCharging is considered to encompass all functions needed to move material from the stockhouse to the furnace top, and into the vessel. IPACT has developed and supplied its own charging control system that completely and automatically controls this critical function for skip charged furnaces, including the following features. Optimization of charging by Level I, i.e., Level I schedules steps and controls stockhouse, skip car, and furnace top operations such that charging proceeds at the highest possible rate. Charging is not dependent on Level II, that is, Level I can continue to charge a given round (not just a given step) without Level II being available. Level I controls all charging-related equipment: feeders, conveyors, hoppers, skips, bells, top valves, stockrods and moveable armor.
