Roller Hearth Furnace for Parts Hot Stamping

IPACT was contracted  to provide automation software for an innovative new facility for the hot stamping of automotive parts (such as bumper beams).  This facility utilizes an electrically heated roller hearth furnace to anneal parts in minutes – a process which takes hours in traditional facilities.  These parts are then hot stamped and quenched while still captured in the press to yield proper shape and strength.  Automation provided by IPACT engineers controlled the following parts of the process:

• Incoming part handling

• Furnace control

• Furnace discharge

• Quench water control
