Cocoa Bean Handling, Roasting and Winnowing

Subsequent to the successful installation of the large chocolate making automation revamp discussed above, the same manufacturer chose IPACT to provide the automation for their new cocoa bean handling, roasting and winnowing facility. Functional areas included bean unloading from either trucks or rail cars, cleaning, conveying, blending, pneumatic transport, roasting, winnowing (shell removal), a large and complex dust collection and removal system, and exhaust air scrubbers.  IPACT supplied functional specifications, implementation, simulation, testing, and commissioning services for the four Level 1 processors and four HMI/SCADA terminals that control this facility.  The new bean handling system supplies both existing and new roasters, and therefore had a short time window for commissioning, which was accomplished successfully after extensive simulation and testing.
