Inline Syrup MixingIPACT provided a Level 1 system to a candy manufacturer to control mixing and storage of a corn syrup, gum arabic, and water solution (CGSS) for use in various downstream processes. This system was also a turn-key project from functional specification through startup. The system tracks demand on stored CGSS, and automatically begins mixing a new batch such that the new batch will be mixed just before existing supply is depleted. Components are precisely metered into the mixing vessel, and duration of mixing is controlled by continuous measurement of solution density and viscosity. IPACT also designed the human-machine interface for this control system, which is similar to the Pan Line HMI discussed above. The system has resulted in more consistent CGSS due to precision metering and mixing, and less CGSS waste because the system mixes only what is projected to be used in near-term production.
