Bar Mill Main Mill Motors Control System

A control system to replace existing motor speed control utilizing motor operated rheostats (MOR) for motor field weakening.  The new control system consisted of PLC based control algorithms and motor field packages for motor control at and above base speed.  There are a total of three 600 to 800hp DC motors controlled by field weakening was designed, built, and commissioned by IPACT engineers.  Start, stop, and fault trip interface logic and hardware was also supplied for a medium voltage, 800hp asynchronous motor.  Auxiliary functions included operator HMI used for setting up mill speeds and motor speed trimming and start/stop logic.
