Bar Mill Shear Control System

IPACT designed and installed a system to control both the crop and cobble (CC) shear and the flying-dividing shear (FD shear) in an 18-stand bar mill.  The system provided accurate cut-to-length functions for sending product to the cooling bed (based on actual product speed measurement,) as well as a tail crop function for cutting samples and an optimizing function that dynamically determined the lengths of the last two pieces cut from a single billet based on the final cold cut length.
