Variable Hourly Projects

IPACT does projects that are billed at an hourly rate plus the cost of any expenses incurred while doing the project.  The reasons these projects occur are a result of the following:

• The customer desires our expertise as part of their internal development team.

• The project is ill defined which would result in high risk dollars by vendors if fixed price proposal were requested

• Insufficient time exists to do a good scope document, bid proposal, and bid analysis, in order to meet business needs (Note, we still insist on functional and design methodologies to insure success of the project).

• The customer desires to assume all risk with the hope of reducing the cost of doing the project (e.g., remove all risk dollars from the proposal)

• Commissioning efforts are billed as time and material as the duration and other startup conditions preclude the ability to determine the effort or calendar length of time of a startup.

We treat time and material projects with same attention to project management regardless how the project is billed.  We still provide status reports and works with the customer’s or our project manager to ensure conformance to schedule and budget.  All of our engineers are familiar with project management techniques and are self managed.  We work with the customer to ensure that the tasks, schedule, and priorities are defined before simply providing a human resource for a project.  IPACT enjoys sharing the success of our projects with our customers.
